In this manual, we will see how to use InMail to 2nd and 3rd profiles in Linked Helper 2 (desktop application):
Introduction
InMail allows you to directly message another LinkedIn member that you're not connected to.
Note: If you have a Basic (free) account, you can only directly message LinkedIn members that you’re connected to. You must upgrade to a Premium account to use InMails. But there is a workaround which allows you to send free InMails to those with Open Link status. Check this article to learn more: How to send free InMails to Open profiles
You’re allotted a specific number of InMail credits based on your subscription type. You can find the number of InMail credits you have from your Premium subscription page.
InMail messages can have up to 200 characters in the subject line and up to 2000 characters in the body. It’s important to keep in mind that your InMail signature is counted in the total number of available characters.
Another thing to note is that Linked Helper sends InMails via the platform where profiles were collected in the first place, so you may need to change the platform in Advanced UI: How to change the LinkedIn platform for processing profiles?
The reason why you need to change the platform is that if you have the Sales Navigator subscription and not LinkedIn Premium, then you are able to send InMails only via the Sales Navigator platform. If you collect profiles from the Basic LinkedIn platform and try to send an InMail to a profile, then sending will fail since the incorrect platform is chosen.
How to send InMails to 2nd & 3rd connections
Linked Helper 2 has Basic and Advanced User Interfaces. You can use either one for this activity, but some features (changing platform or advanced campaign menu for example) are not available for the basic version. The short resume of actions is creating a new campaign, adding 'InMail to 2nd & 3rd profiles' action, adjusting the parameters of the campaign and execution.
Here are the steps for the Basic UI version:
1. Create a new campaign from the dropdown menu on the left side of UI:
2. Type it the name of the campaign and select the ‘Empty campaign’ preset or you can use a campaign with pre-placed actions that would work for your purpose, Send InMails for example. You can read more about it here.
3. Open ‘Workflow’ of the campaign, add a new action, and select ‘InMail to 2nd & 3rd profiles’.
4. Set up a message and message subject in the ‘Message’ tab of action:
- You can preview the InMail message for each contact in the Queue by clicking the Preview message button:
- Adjust settings for Bunch size, Timeout between bunches, and Delay settings according to your needs for every action of your campaign:
- You can also choose the text input method for your invitation message. Linked Helper 2 offers three options for that. Random method - Linked Helper 2 will choose the input method itself; Insert - your message will be pasted into the text field; Type - your message will be typed as you'd type it manually yourself using the keyboard. You can find these settings in the Delay Settings tab.
5. Collect profiles in the queue of action by clicking Add button near the campaign Queue.
- Choose a source from where to collect profiles (LinkedIn Search page, or if you have a paid LinkedIn subscription, you can choose Sales Navigator or Recruiter search): How to add profiles into a campaign?
6. Start your campaign.
